Trae is a lifetime Tempe resident. She grew up playing sports and was a varsity volleyball player and track athlete at Marcos de Niza High School. During this time, she also discovered her passion for coding.
She is entering her second year as a graduate student at Arizona State University and is currently creating an app that teaches the fundamentals of coding to kids. Trae is helping steer underfunded youth towards STEM disciplines through engaging and game-based learning.
Trae will be working with Tempe elementary schools as she develops the prototype and software for her app.
Trae has been car-free her whole life. Valley Metro has been her steadfast mode of transportation as she loves to take the light rail into campus and beyond to downtown Phoenix to visit the museums or catch a small show.
Her car-free lifestyle has equipped her with the independence and confidence to get around on her own.
During quarantine, she became the proud owner of a pair of skates and has been skating every day from her apartment complex in south Tempe.
Trae is delighted to remain in Tempe and become a part of a community where she can continue to live a car-free lifestyle with other neighbors who are working to reduce their carbon footprint and better our planet.
When it comes to community, Trae wants to be surrounded by "people who care about you and want to get to know who you are as a person." Living with others who share the same values and mindset remains important to Trae.
